Hmm, perhaps some motion lines into the first panel so it feels less static?
That would be such a great parry for a counter attack and hilt-bashing his face, if he weren't so damn tall. Everyone but another barbarian would need a step to do that. :o

Action lines are like steroids for action panels. They work really good but they could become addictive! :o

Actually, the action in panel 1 is meant to be static. The elf in the left window guard is holding her ground for a moment behind a rock. Katagnar is merely taunting her and inviting an attack.

Readers of the book version of Elf will get to read the fight sequence between the last page and this one. ;)

Sweet! I'm really looking forward for the book. :)
About the static pose, maybe I also thought that because I'm a weakling and he'd break my guard immediately in this block, unless I would go forward / circle him and well, try to hit him somehow or at least not to get hit. I'm definitely too small for hilt-to-face against a barbarian.

If she can manage to keep him at typical sword fighting distance, her speed and skill will serve her well. He's every bit as quick and nimble as her and is a lot stronger, so if it goes to grappling, she'll be in big trouble.

Haha yeah, I love the "stop running!" panel. :)

Yeah, I think that first panel is just fine without whoosh lines.

Really, really looking forward to the book!!

This fight can't end well.

Well, we all remember the bizarre, malt nectar induced dream where Katagnar gets his jaw torn off by Elf in a wombat suit, so I predict Katagnar is going to get his jaw torn off somehow....just like the main evil guy in Mad Max Fury Road did...Does a man's jaw symbolically represent something? Is it like being castrated if you get your jaw torn off? Lol
Or! Maybe Katagnar somehow comes around and teams up with elf! Yeah! That's what's going to happen!
Goodbye Katagnar. Sniff
I will wear a cat hat in remembrance of you.

Being rendered incapable of eating (biting) and talking (expressing one's will) certainly would have the effect of making someone "impotent". That is, unless your potency comes from your intellect and spirit, like a certain film critic from a certain city where they say "jagoff" instead of "jackoff".

Can't wait for the book!

Out of sight, Bob is eating popcorn. Aegon is sneaking.

Bob with an extra large bucket of popcorn and drink is a funny mental image.

Can't help but think that Katagnar's weakness is about to be exploited: his uncanny ability to underestimate his opponents! Great sequence!

The question is...is Katagnar's cockiness recklessness or a carefully cultivated attitude???

Katagnar is actually younger than Blackfeather isn't he? So she might have an exp/level advantage right?

She's definitely been kicking around a lot longer than he has, so, yes. Experience has to count for something.

This is getting so good.

When I buy Heavy Metal magazine, this is the type of stuff that I'm always looking for. Brilliant!!

Thanks, dude! Yeah, I started this comic because I had always looked for fantasy genre comics of this sort but there just weren't many out there.

Here's my current favorite fantasy genre comic by Grzegorz Rosinski & Jean Van Hamme:

You can buy them from Amazon:
Thorgal at Amazon

Great. Now I have to look up Thorgal. Thanks...so many comiiiiics....

And these panels are the schnit. Need more plz k thx <3!

Seriously, I need resolution, the suspense is killing me. And Katagnar isn't so bad, I want to see him come through, but no one messes with the Elf!

Resolution will come soon! :D

Keep in mind that "soon" is a relative term, however. :o

YAY! Window Guard! She needs to raise that sword a bit higher to protect her head! Just kidding. No not really, she needs to raise that sword.
Songgu Kwon 19th Jun 2015, 3:19 PM edit delete reply
Songgu Kwon
True that. The sword should be held higher and further back for proper window guard form. She's in transition here, however. ;)
