Wombats have naturally SUPER TOUGH buttocks. Here's a site that describes it a bit:

It's vital that a cartoonist know his buttocks.

The bird was just using the Halflings' plight as a pretext to get a better view of that cleavage.

I hope Clarence keeps the crocogator cloak; it looks awesome.

He would, except it's heavy and it smells bad. Hasn't fully cured, you see. They were in a hurry to shoot that instructional comic.

By the time this party rejoins the Halflings, they will have travelled backward then forward in time a total of at least 4,000 years. Or maybe they're just visiting the Island That Time Forgot, and are dressing so as not to look out of place.

She can understand Wrenish because:
a: it's an elf thing
b: she has tasted dragon blood
c: bird-skull amulet
d: Americans are right after all: volume = universal translator.
hibou 2nd Feb 2013, 8:22 PM edit delete reply
hmmm- i've always thought of "volume = universal translator" as a uniquely English thing...
Songgu Kwon 2nd Feb 2013, 11:45 PM edit delete reply
Songgu Kwon
To answer pharphacide, the answer is E: All of the above?

Or maybe the wren is speaking Elvish with a THICK Wrenish accent? Nice bird species identification success, by the way!

As for the loud, slow, extra enunciated talking, Americans are guilty of it but yes, the English have been at it longer, I imagine. ;) "The sun never sets on the British Empire" and all that.

Harggok may not respect the arrow but he will respect the yew. I imagine him defeating the arrow barrage only to trip and fall on an arrow. I know you love irony.
Songgu Kwon 3rd Feb 2013, 2:15 PM edit delete reply
Songgu Kwon
Bah! Arrows. Harggok doesn't believe in arrows. He's no fan of using spears or swords either. He's really only interested in bludgeoning.

There is a 1st level 3.5e Speak With Animals Ranger spell, but drinking dragon's blood is the mythically correct answer. Since Russia doesn't get a lot of tourists, and it has many ethnic minorities who only speak Russian as a second language, Russians will speak Russian to you in different tones, registers, etc. here if you can't understand them, at least if you're White or Asian. (I am so typically Russian-looking, though, I mostly just get puzzled looks when people realize I can't really speak Russian).

Harggok probably has the Weapon Focus: Bludgeoning Weapons and Improved Critical: Bludgeoning Weapons feats. He has an emotional investment in smashing things.
Songgu Kwon 8th Feb 2013, 2:39 AM edit delete reply
Songgu Kwon
Oh yes, he's very invested in bludgeoning things. So much so that it's part of his name.

Maybe you should wear a beret and a striped shirt all the time so those Russians will think you're French instead. Ah, the internet. Such a great avenue for me to give such good advise to help people with problems in their lives. It is wonderful.
blatboy 7th Feb 2013, 11:35 AM edit delete reply
Hmmmmm. Harggok is a pretty large target w/no shield to be poo-pooing arrows methinks.
blatboy 7th Feb 2013, 11:45 AM edit delete reply
unless of course those are bracers of defense he's rockin...
Songgu Kwon 8th Feb 2013, 2:47 AM edit delete reply

Harggok is all too aware of his vulnerability to arrows. That is why he resents them so. You see, the thing is... Harggok is extremely near sighted and is quite useless with a bow. This is another source of his disdain for arrows.
Dean Clark 8th Feb 2013, 10:32 AM edit delete reply
Dean Clark
I'm guessing Harggok's mallet is two-handed, the better to flatten things with. Which would explain why he has no shield.

I could always wear an Izod shirt and a backward baseball cap. It's nice blending in for a change, though. That didn't happen for years, in East Asia. I'll be sticking out again soon enough, when I relocate to the KSA (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), in the spring. From -40 to 40 C, in four months.

That's not a 'gator, that's a saltie (or 'salt water crocodile', one of the million things {animal _and_ vegetable} in Australia that live to kill humans)
