Beautiful comic you have here. Been reading it for a few days now.
Coloring, Yeah I know I hate to color too but in the end it's all worth it. This page was hilarious I was cracking up. Nice job again!
Looks like Blackfeather and the mercs will celebrate their new found alliance today with cerveau de grell Suzette. Maybe Clarence won't have lost too much blood, and will feel like eating by then.
Good to see Erhni isn't holding a grudge, and is willing to take orders from Durgo.
Merc Quest II is a realtime strategy RPG where you take command of a company of mercenaries and roam around, taking on contracts for gold or sometimes just food or glory, recruiting new members, pillaging... etc. You can eventually command up to 100 unique mercs but running such a large crew becomes challenging since they all need to get paid. Efficient resource management is critical. I too want to play this game. ;)
Durgo mentioned seeing Khojin summon a monster before. Since it's unlikely Khojin just happened to run into Durgo again, in this village, it seems safe to assume he is a member of this mercenary party. So where is Khojin in the party's time of need? Waiting in the wings to deliver the coup de grace against the grell? If not, he's a pretty lousy team player.
What's left of the mercenary party combined with Blackfeather's party makes for a formidable force, especially with Khojin included. Taking on the grell can bring the group together, and demonstrate its abilities. Clarence' critical status, though, highlights the need for a healer in the group, to fill in its most obvious remaining gap. Hopefully, someone not too sanctimonious, or new agey, but if they are, ridiculously so. Pieter, a thief, is doing double duty as a healer for now, but not a very good one.
you'll notice there's only one character on the field who has a life bar AND a mana bar...i think you just need to scroll down the character list to see Khojin's stats!
The character with the mana bar indeed has a pointy cap, like Khojin. I just didn't recognize him in his diminutive form. I had wondered why a torchbearer would have a second status bar. Spellcasting always seems to involve some gesticulation, so I guess he can wave his torch around in the air if he has enough mana left for a useful spell. The Extra Strength Summon Monster spell seems to have already taken two thirds of his mana. Maybe he has a magic item (the spear?) that allows him to cast Summon Monster at above his level. Or maybe it is a racial ability. Neat trick, but the material components are a bitch, and the results are unreliable.
The colors really add volume to the figures, some of which were difficult to distinguish form their backgrounds before. Nice touch making the mana bar a different color from the health bar. The health bars seem to change colors depending on level. Below 2/3, they seem to switch from yellow to green. And maybe below 10%, at Clarence' level, they turn dark red.
Coloring. What a pain.
